Kálmán TAPOLCZAI
I study the relationship between the diversity of freshwater planktonic and benthic algal organisms and their communities with environmental variables. In addition to fundamental research aspects, I have several years of experience in the development and testing of diatom-based ecological status assessment indices implemented in the EU Water Framework Directive, as well as in the application of innovative DNA metabarcoding-based methods.
Ongoing projects:
FK OTKA 2023 - Community response of planktic and benthic microorganisms to anthropogenic pressures and the applicability of DNA metabarcoding in the ecological status assessment of lakes
Bolyai János Research Scholarship 2024 - Trait-based ecological study of benthic and planktonic algal communities of shallow lakes
