Brief description of the main scopes

My scientific interests focus on the investigation of terrestrial and freshwater cyanobacterial toxins and biologically active metabolic products.

As a member of the Ecophysiology and Environmental Toxicology Research Group, I am looking for answers to the following questions in my work:

  • Which cyanobacterial species caused/are causing local mass productions?
  • What bioactive metabolites and toxins are produced by bloom-forming species?
  • How does the metabolite profile of bloom-forming species change?
  • What are the most frequently appearing bioactive metabolites and toxins?

Furthermore, in the National Brain Research Program (NAP3.0), we investigate how these metabolites affect the behavioral patterns of aquatic invertebrates (e.g., Daphnia magna, Lymnaea stagnalis), as well as the underlying cellular and molecular processes.
